Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 5400 South Braeswood

August 8, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 5400 South Braeswood about 10:50 a.m. today.

The male victim, 70, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital . His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer T. Tran reported:

The driver of a gray Cadillac Fleetwood was traveling eastbound on South Braeswood and failed to control his speed. The Cadillac struck the rear of a blue Ford Explorer stopped at a red light at the intersection of Chimney Rock and then struck a blue Chevrolet Cruz, also stopped at the red light. The Cadillac also struck a gray Mercedes traveling southbound through the intersection. The driver of the Cadillac was transported to the hospital where he died. The drivers of the Mercedes, Chevrolet and the Explorer were not injured.

Investigators believe the driver of the Cadillac may have suffered a medical issue prior to the accident.
