Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 13400 East Freeway

August 25, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 13400 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 12:40 a.m. on Sunday (August 24).

The male victim, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Trometer and Officer F. Flynn reported:

The driver of a black Dodge Challenger, driving at a high rate of speed westbound on the East Freeway, failed to control speed and struck the rear of a white Suzuki motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle (victim) died at the scene. The driver of the Dodge fled westbound on the East Freeway and abandoned the vehicle just before John Rallston Street.
