Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 1800 West 43rd

December 12, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 1800 West 43rd about 10:50 p.m. on Thursday (Dec. 11).

The suspect, Samuel S. Johnson, has pending charges of DWI, First Offender, and Failure to Stop and Give Information (FSGI). A photo of Johnson is not available at this time.

The male victim, 40, was transported to Northwest Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer M. Rios reported:

The suspect, Johnson, was driving a white GMC Sierra pickup truck when he was involved in a traffic accident at the intersection of West 43rd and Ella. Johnson immediatelyfled the scene at a high rate of speed. As he apporached theintersection of West 43rd and and Rosslyn Road, Johnson then struck a black Chevrolet Tahoe driven by the victim.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital, where the victim was pronounced deceased. Johnson was treated and subsequently arrestedin this case.

The investigation is continuing.
