HPD Officers Play Secret Santa in Holiday Traffic Stops

December 23, 2014 - Groups of Houston police officers from patrol stations across the city are actually making some motorists smile during traffic stops.

During the holiday season, some HPD officers are spreading holiday cheer as they distribute $100 bills to 100 unsuspecting motorists pulled over for a violation such as a broken tail light or an expired inspection sticker.

Instead of writing a citation, the officers will present a $100 bill to the driver. That was the case earlier today as officers from Midwest and Northeast Patrol Stations broke the surprising news to drivers. See some of their reactions on the HPD YouTube channel athttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYTwoEx1XCc&feature=youtu.be

Several local media outlets followed officers around city neighborhoods today. The HPD video is available for use or broadcast by any media outlet.

A Secret Santa donated $10,000 to the HPD to help those most in need during this Christmas season. The plan is to distribute the private donation to motorists in Houston until all the money is in the hands of citizens in our various communities.

The Houston Police Department wishes all those we serve and protect a blessed, safe and joyous holiday season!
