Suspect Arrested, Charged in Man's Death at 4200 Lockwood

February 26, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the beating death of a man at 4200 Lockwood about 8:10 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 23).

The suspect, Dontell Cooper (b/m, 22), is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court. He is accused in the death of Morris Lee Gray, 46, of Houston, who suffered blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Semmelrock and Officer M. Stahlin reported:

Mr. Gray was involved in an altercation with a suspect at the above address when the suspect chased him down the street and fatally beat him.

Further investigation identified Cooper as the suspect and he was arrested on Monday (Feb. 24) without incident.
