Charges Filed against Suspect Arrested in Woman's Death at 6118 Kenilwood

January 24, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a woman found at 6118 Kenilwood about 9:20 a.m. on Thursday (Jan. 23).  

The suspect, Alexander Joseph Lewis, Jr. (b/m, DOB: 6-22-76), is charged with murder in the 178th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of his mother, Bernice Willis Lewis, 64, of the above address.  Her cause of death will be determined by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. L. Holbrook and Senior Police Officer P. Vela reported:  

Alexander Lewis and his mother got into an argument at the residence at the above address last Saturday (Jan. 18) that escalated into a physical fight.  Ms. Lewis died as a result of the fight.  Alexander Lewis remained at the residence and made no attempt to get medical assistance for his mother.  

On Thursday (Jan. 23), HPD patrol officers responded to a welfare check call at the above address and found Ms. Lewis deceased.  Alexander Lewis was immediately taken into custody at the scene.  He admitted his involvement in his mother's death and was subsequently charged.
