HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Biggs and Senior Police Officer R. Bolton reported.

A witness found Mr. Carson under the bridge near the bayou at the above address. The witness then notified another individual who called 911 and reported the incident. HPD patrol officers responded and found Carson deceased.

Further investigation determined that on December 8, Carson was with a witness at his Houston home when he (Carson) went downstairs. Moments later, the witness heard gunshots. The witness ran to a balcony, but was unable to locate Carson. The witness then called Carson's family, who called 911. Harris County Sheriff's deputies responded and filed a missing person report.

Additional information led investigators to the vehicle used during the shooting and dumping of Carson's body. Witnesses then identified Johnson and Shelton as suspects in this case.

On Feb. 26, the HPD North Patrol Division's Warrant Execution Team (WET) obtained information that Johnson was at a residence at 803 West 39th Street. As officers arrived at the location, Johnson fled the scene on foot. Family members told police Johnson was driving the vehicle (white Chevrolet Impala) parked in their driveway. The vehicle was determined to be stolen in the Greenspoint area earlier that day. Investigators recovered a semi-automatic pistol inside the vehicle. Officers also recovered at least two credit cards determined to be stolen in an aggravated robbery earlier that same day (Feb. 26).

On Saturday (May 31), Huntsville City Police officers responded to a theft suspect being held by a security guard. Upon arrival, officers saw the security guard struggling with Johnson and assisted in taking him into custody. Officers also recovered a pistol in the vehicle Johnson was driving. Johnson initially provided officers a false name, however, he was positively identified once he was booked into the Walker County jail. Officials then determined Johnson was wanted for murder in Harris County.

On Sunday (June 1), HPD homicide investigators were notified by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force that Johnson was in custody at the Walker County jail.
