Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 9000 North Freeway

June 16, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident in the 9000 block of the North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) service road about 11:40 p.m. last Friday (June 13).

The victim, an infant boy, was transported to Houston Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Trometer and Officer M. Rios reported:

A silver Ford Escape and a black Chevrolet pickup truck were stopped on the southbound North Freeway service road when the driver of a green Chevrolet Tahoe failed to control his speed and struck both vehicles. The driver of the Tahoe fled the scene.

The victim, a passenger in the Ford, was transported to the hospital where he died.
