Fatal Traffic Accident at 7900 FM 1960

March 17, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 7900 West FM 1960 about 9:15 p.m. last Friday (March 14).

The identity of the male victim, 35, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Roberts and Officer J. Best reported:

The victim, operating a red Kawasaki motorcycle, pulled out of a strip center parking lot to travel east on FM 1960.  At that time, he lost control of the motorcycle and went across the westbound lanes, struck a curb and then went into the eastbound lanes.  The driver of a black Ford F-150 pickup truck, traveling east on FM 1960, then struck the victim.  Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. 

A witness to the accident stated the victim had purchased the motorcycle earlier in the day.  At the time of the accident, the witness heard the engine rev and then saw the victim lose control of the motorcycle. 

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication.  No charges have been filed.
