Update: Suspects Arrested, Charged in Male's Death at 1800 Sherwood Forest

October 16, 2014 - Houston police have arrested three suspects charged in the death of a male found at 1800 Sherwood Forest about 5 p.m. on September 15.

Jose Granados-Guevara (H/m, 22) and William Alexander Valladares (H/m, 17) are charged with murder. Granados-Guevara is charged in the 185th State District Court and Valladares in the 182nd State District Court. A third suspect, a 14-year-old male, is being referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation Department authorities on a murder charge. Photos of the suspects are not available at this time, pending further investigations.

The three are accused in the killing of Jose Luis Meraz, 14, of Houston.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants C. Sturdivant, J. Robles and Senior Police Officers D. Arnold and S. Spivey reported:

A citizen walking his dog found Jose Meraz's body in a heavily wooded area, west of Addicks Dam Road.

There were no known witnesses or suspects in the case.

Further investigation by the HPD Homicide and Major Offenders Divisions led to the identities of Granados-Guevara, Valladares and a juvenile male as suspects in this case. All three were taken into custody and subsequently charged in this incident.

The investigation is ongoing with additional arrests possible.
