Investigation into Shooting Incident at 4700 Wenda

October 27, 2014 - Houston police are investigating the apparent accidental shooting of a man at 4700 Wenda about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday (October 25).

The male, Patrick Sanders, 20, of Houston, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rodriguez and W. Gilbert reported:

Mr. Sanders was sleeping on the couch in the living room of an apartment at the above address when a gun in his pants pocket fell out and onto the floor. As Sanders woke up, a three-month-old boy picked up the gun. Sanders saw the child with the gun and he tried to grab it from the boy. At that time, the gun went off and Sanders was shot in the face. The child was not injured.

The investigation is continuing.
