Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2012 Fatal Stabbing at 5400 Telephone Road

October 30, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 5400 Telephone Road about 1:30 a.m. on August 6, 2012.

The suspect, German Mauricio Cruz (H/m, 31), is charged with murder in the 178th State District Court for his role in the killing of Anthony Hall, 48. A photo of suspect Cruz is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rodriguez and Officer M. Burrow reported:

Witnesses reported seeing an unknown suspect on top of and assaulting Mr. Hall in a parking lot at the above address. When the witness began honking his horn, the suspect fled the scene on foot. When officers arrived, they found Hall had suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect was described only as a Hispanic male, 20 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 130 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue or black t-shirt and blue jeans.

Further investigation and physical evidence linked German Mauricio Cruz to the incident and he was arrested on Tuesday (Oct. 28) without incident. He admitted to his role in Hall's death and was subsequently charged.
