UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged, Additional Victims Sought in Child Sexual Assault

April 22, 2015 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the sexual assault of a child at 7560 Westheimer about 5:45 p.m. on April 9 and are seeking any additional victims that had contact with the suspect.

The suspect, Cody Hurst (w/m, 26), is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child in the 176th State District Court. A photo of Hurst is attached to this news release. A surveillance photo of the suspect is also attached.

The suspect approached a 9-year-old girl at a Michael's store at the above address.  He had been roaming the aisles watching the victim until she was alone, and then approached her.  He grabbed her from behind, removed a piece of her clothing, and fondled her.  The victim yelled for help and the male fled from the store.

On Friday (April 17), a Crime Stoppers tip led to the identification of Hurst and, on Tuesday (April 21), he was arrested without incident.

Investigators have reason to believe Hurst may have had additional contact with other children and are asking any additional victims to call the HPD Special Victims Division at 713-308-1100.
