Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 8143 Panay Drive

January 7, 2015 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 8143 Panay Drive about 6 a.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 6).

The victim, Chester D. Edwards, 34, of the above address, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and Senior Police Officer M. Waters II reported:

Mr. Edwards was leaving his residence to take his wife to work and three children to school.  As the family members waited in the vehicle in the driveway, an unknown suspect approached Edwards at his front door.  The suspect struck Edwards and forced him back into the residence.  Edwards' wife went to check on him and, when she realized what was happening, she returned to the family's vehicle and fled the scene with the children.  After bringing them to a safe place, the woman returned to the scene once HFD paramedics had arrived.  Paramedics pronounced Edwards deceased due to multiple gunshot wounds.

One suspect, the shooter, is described only as a black male, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a skinny build.  He was wearing a black hoodie and green sweatpants.  The other suspect is described only as a black male.  The suspects were seen driving in a late model, silver Ford F-150 with a red "V" decal on the rear window.
