Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 10600 West Sam Houston Parkway South

March 16, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian traffic accident at 10600 West Sam Houston Parkway South service road about 6:30 a.m. on Sunday (March 15).  

The male victim, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer T. Tran reported:  

The victim was crossing the Sam Houston Parkway service road, not at a crosswalk, when he was struck by a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling northbound.  Further investigation determined the pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing, failed to yield the right-of-way prior to being struck.  

The driver of the Trailblazer, who remained at the scene, was questioned and released.  

The investigation is continuing.
