Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 8900 North Houston Rosslyn

March 23, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 8900 North Houston Rosslyn about 1:55 a.m. today (March 23).  

The identity of the deceased male victim, 29, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Roberts and Officer R. Bymaster reported:  

HPD patrol officers were in the area of the above address responding to an unrelated call and heard a loud impact from a crash.  Officers and paramedics responded to the crash scene at the above address.  

Further investigation determined a white Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on North Houston Rosslyn when it struck the passenger side of a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser traveling northbound and turning from North Houston Rosslyn into a neighborhood.  The PT Cruiser rolled over and came to a stop on its roof.  A male passenger in the PT Cruiser, not believed to be wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.  The female driver of the PT Cruiser was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with broken bones.  The driver of the Altima was also transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with minor injuries.  

It is believed the driver of the PT Cruiser was impaired at the time of the accident.  

No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.
