The victim was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.  His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Tolls and Senior Police Officer R. Cervantes reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the Costa Vizcaya Apartments at the above address.  Officers arrived and found a truck had crashed into two vehicles parked in the complex parking lot.  Officers then saw the victim in the driver's seat of the truck with a gunshot wound.  HFD paramedics were then called to the scene.
As officers waited for paramedics to arrive, a witness came forward and told officers he was a passenger in the truck and was conducting a narcotics transaction with the victim, whom he did not know.  As both men were conducting the transaction inside the truck, the witness said shots were fired from an unknown direction, striking the victim and the truck.  The victim attempted to drive off, but then struck two parked vehicles.  The victim was then transported by paramedics to the hospital.

At this time, there are no known suspects.
