UPDATE:  Suspect Arrested, Charted in Fatal Shooting at 8404 South Course

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 8404 South Course about 6 a.m. on April 3.

The suspect, Elie Ngouelet (b/m, 18), is charged with capital murder in the 232nd State District Court.  A photo of Ngouelet is not available at this time, pending further investigation.

The victim, Ramone Alviso Esquivel, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer B. Evans and Officer K. McDonald reported:

Mr. Esquivel was in the parking lot of his apartment complex at the above address and on his way to work when he was confronted by an unknown black male suspect who attempted to forcibly take Esquivel's personal property.  When Esquivel resisted, the suspect produced a gun, shot Esquivel and then fled the scene.

Following the release of a suspect composite sketch and surveillance video last Wednesday (April 4), Ngouelet turned himself in to investigators on Monday (April 9) and confessed to the shooting of Esquivel. He was subsequently arrested and charged in this case.
