Suspect Charged in Homicide Investigation at 3723 Prudence Street

December 21, 2018 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in the disappearance and presumed deaths of a man and woman last seen at a residence at 3723 Prudence Street in late August.

The suspect, Ramon Alberto Escobar (H/m, 47), is charged with capital murder in the 351st State District Court.  He is in custody in Los Angeles County, California.

A booking photo of Escobar is not available at this time.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Burrow, W. Dunn and Detective E. May reported:

On August 30, detectives were assigned to investigate the disappearance of Rogelio Escobar, 65, and his sister, Dina Escobar, 61.  Rogelio was last seen on August 26 and Dina was last seen on August 28.  The investigation was initially assigned to the HPD Missing Persons Unit.

On August 30, homicide detectives interviewed Ramon Escobar as a person of interest in the missing persons investigation.  However, at the time of the interview, there was no direct evidence to suggest foul play and Ramon Escobar’s involvement.

In the days following the initial interview as detectives worked to gather evidence, Ramon Escobar had already fled to southern California. On September 24, Ramon Escobar was arrested for his connection to multiple murders and other violent attacks that had occurred in Los Angeles County, California.

HPD homicide detectives traveled to L.A. County to interview Ramon Escobar regarding the disappearance of his uncle and aunt in Houston.  While he initially denied any involvement, he eventually confessed to killing his uncle and aunt.  On Tuesday (Dec. 18), Ramon Escobar was charged in Harris County with capital murder.

With the assistance of Los Angeles Police Department robbery-homicide detectives, HPD detectives are still working on locating and recovering the bodies of Rogelio and Dina Escobar.
