The victim was at his business when he saw the suspect steal his tow truck.  The victim and his friend got into another vehicle and pursued the suspect.  The victim caught up to the suspect and blocked his path by pulling his vehicle in front of the stolen tow truck.  The victim then exited his vehicle and confronted the suspect.  The suspect then intentionally accelerated the tow truck, struck the victim and fled the scene.  The victim was transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A nearby witness flagged down HPD officers and notified them of what happened.  Officers located the tow truck and  attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the suspect refused to stop.  Officers initiated a vehicle pursuit that ended in Sugar Land when the suspect struck another vehicle.  The motorist in that vehicle was transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition.  The suspect was then taken into custody without further incident.
