UPDATE/CORRECTION: Investigation into Shooting at 5714 North Freeway

January 23, 2019 - Houston police have learned the victim shot at 5714 Werner about 5:45 a.m. on January 16 has been pronounced deceased.

The victim, Jeremy Ray, 21, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on Monday (Jan. 22).

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers J. Nguyen and W. Huff  and Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Senior Police Officer D. Marshall and Officer D. Morrison reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Olympic Motel at the above address.  The victim's father had called 9-1-1 stating his son, Mr. Ray, had been shot in the head.  Ray, his father, and Ray's girlfriend (suspect) had been staying at the motel for the past three months.  According to witnesses, Ray and the suspect had an argument during which the suspect became physically abusive.  When the couple went inside their motel room witnesses heard a gunshot and saw the suspect fleeing the area.  There is no arrest nor charges at this time as the investigation is on-going.
