Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6200 West Tidwell

July 26, 2019 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 6200 Tidwell about 9:50 p.m. Thursday (July 25).

The identity of the male victim, 61, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer D. Henley reported:

The victim was operating a maroon Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he pulled out of a gas station at 9440 Shady Drive and proceeded to cross the eastbound lanes of Tidwell.  He drove over the grassy median and then partially struck a fire hydrant before stopping in the westbound lanes of Tidwell.  The driver of a teal Toyota Camry, traveling westbound on Tidwell, was unable to stop and struck the motorcycle.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The male passenger on the motorcycle was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious condition.  The driver of the Toyota, who did not show signs of intoxication, was questioned and released.
