Investigation into Fatal Crash at 13100 Westheimer

July 26, 2019 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash of a suspect following a police pursuit at 13100 Westheimer about 11:10 p.m. Thursday (July 26).

The identity of the suspect (b/m, 48) is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and O. Bledsoe reported:

At approximately 11 p.m. officers with the Westside Patrol Division initiated a traffic stop on the suspect, who was wanted for a Class A warrant.  The suspect, driving a black Chrysler, refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.  As he was fleeing from officers eastbound on Westheimer, he failed to maintain a single lane and struck a curb.  The Chrysler then struck a light pole in the parking lot of the above address and a bank sign before it came to a rest upside down.  The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

There were no other occupants nor vehicles involved in this crash.

As is customary when a motorist dies in the presence of police in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigating by the Houston Police Vehicular Crimes and the Internal Affairs Divisions.
