Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 7400 South Gessner Road

May 3, 2019 - Charges have been filed against two suspects in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 12601 South Green Drive about 2:45 a.m. on March 14.  

One suspect, Darrell Ellsworth (w/m, 18), is charged with capital murder in the 183rd State District Court.  A juvenile male suspect, 16, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a capital murder charge.  Both are accused in the death of Jeremy Washington, 30.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective J. Roscoe reported:

A witness heard a gunshot in the parking lot of the apartment complex at the above address.  When the witness investigated the sound, he found Washington lying in the grass near the front entrance of the complex.  Washington was transported to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Further investigation identified Ellsworth and the juvenile male as suspects in this case.  Ellsworth, in custody in the Harris County Jail on an unrelated charge, was charged today (May 2) for his role in Washington's death.  The juvenile suspect was taken into custody today (May 2) without incident.
