Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 12000 Highway 90

May 9, 2019 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal crash that occurred at 12000 Highway 90 (U.S. Highway 90) about 2:30 a.m. today (May 9).

The suspect, Trevor Bergin (w/m, 19), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 209th State District Court. A photo of Bergin is attached to this news release. 

The identity of the male victim, 40, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer D. Henley reported:

Bergin was driving a black Chevrolet Silverado northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 90 when he struck a black Nissan Versa, driven by the victim, traveling southbound on Highway 90.  Bergin then attempted to flee the scene by stealing a witness's vehicle.  When that was unsuccessful, he attempted to flee on foot.  Bergin was detained at the scene and transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
