The female victim, 48, was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.  Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer R. Singleton reported:

The driver of a red Nissan Altima, traveling northbound in the 5800 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway South service road, entered the Harwin Drive intersection and struck the passenger side of a silver Mazda CX5.  The Mazda then spun and struck a pole, causing debris from the vehicle to strike a red Nissan Versa, stopped at the light at the intersection westbound on Harwin Drive.

The passenger in the Mazda died at an area hospital.  The drivers of the Mazda and Nissan Altima were transported to area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the Nissan Versa was not injured.

No drivers appeared to be intoxicated.  It is believed one or both drivers of the Nissan Altima and Mazda may have run a red light, however the circumstances of the crash are unclear.
