Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5900 Bellfort
September 13, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 5900 Bellfort Street about 5:05 a.m. today (Sept. 13).
The identity of the deceased female victim, 75, is pending verification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. A male victim, 54, was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Senior Police Officer R. Bymaster reported:
The victims were walking northbound across the intersection of Belgard at Bellfort, not in a crosswalk, when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Bellfort struck both of them. The unknown vehicle failed to stop and fled the scene. Both victims were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where the female was pronounced deceased.
The wanted vehicle is described only as a white GMC SUV.
