August 26, 2020 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 10400 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) service road about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday (August 26).

The male victim, John Squires, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer J. Crisler reported:

Mr. Squires was driving a gray Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on the Southwest Freeway when he exited at the Beltway 8 frontage road.  He then veered to the left, struck a curb, drove onto a grassy median and struck a TxDOT freeway signage pole.  

The investigation is continuing.
