Two Suspects Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 7500 Cook Road

January 17, 2020 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 7500 Cook Road about 4:40 p.m. on January 8.

The first suspect, Nicholas Taylor Parker (b/m, 20), is charged with murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and retaliation in the 263rd State District Court.  The second suspect, Jaylinn Charles Burch (b/m, 18), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering/fabricating physical evidence in the 263rd State District Court.  Booking photos of Parker and Burch are attached to this news release.

The victim, David Mosqueda, 20, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Stroble and K. Collier reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and learned Mr. Mosqueda had been transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

Detectives determined two unknown male suspects in a vehicle encountered Mosqueda and a witness walking on the sidewalk near the above address.  For unknown reasons, one male suspect fired shots at the victim from inside the vehicle and struck him in the chest.  The suspect vehicle then fled the scene as the witness returned fire.  

Further investigation led to the identification of Parker and Burch as suspects in this case and they were subsequently arrested and charged for their roles in this incident.
