UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 8100 Martin Luther King Boulevard

July 10, 2020 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 8100 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 3:25 p.m. on Sunday (July 5).  

The suspect, Calvin Cartwright  (b/m, 30), is charged with murder, aggravated kidnapping and felon in possession of a weapon in the 230th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Timothy Chambers, 23.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Caten, D. Higgs and C. LaFour reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a convenience store at the above address and learned the victim (Mr. Chambers) had been driven to a nearby Houston Fire Department station.  Paramedics transported Chambers to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

The unknown suspect fled the scene westbound on Martin Luther King Boulevard in an unknown vehicle.  

Further investigation identified Cartwright as the suspect in this case.  He was taken into custody on Wednesday (July 8) in the 12000 block of Fleming Drive without incident.
