July 16, 2020 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 6410 Del Rio Street about 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday (July 15).

The suspect, Gregory Lynn Bonner III (b/m, 18), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence in the 351st State District Court.  A booking photo of Bonner is attached to this news release.  

The victim, Gregory Jones, 38, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective L. Hicks reported;

The suspect, Bonner, lives next door to Mr. Jones.  A gun was fired from inside Bonner's apartment.  The bullet went through the wall and into Jones' apartment, striking Jones as he was sitting in his living room. 

Following the shooting, Bonner attempted to take the gun away from the crime scene and hide it.  He was subsequently arrested and charged in this incident.
