Investigation into Stabbing at 9510 Beechnut Street

May 27, 2020 - Houston police are investigating the stabbing of a man at 9510 Beechnut Street about 5:10 a.m. today (May 27).  

The victim, Cesar Martinez, 46, was transported to an area hospital where doctors expect him to survive his wounds.  

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers A. Carroll and J. De La Torre reported:  

Mr. Martinez was sleeping with his girlfriend on the sidewalk of a strip center at the above address when a known male suspect woke him up and yelled at him about a missing cell phone.  The suspect, possibly under the influence of narcotics or alcohol, suddenly stabbed Martinez in the upper abdomen and kicked him, causing serious injury.  The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.  Paramedics transported Martinez to the hospital.
