October 2, 2020 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a male that occurred at 3820 Sherwood Lane about 4 p.m. on June 9.

The suspect, Eduardo Reyes, 18, is charged with manslaughter in the 183rd State District Court.  He is accused for his role in the shooting death of a juvenile male, 15.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives B. Nabors and J. Flores reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found the victim inside his apartment with a gunshot wound to the chest.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased.

Initially, witnesses stated an unknown suspect, dressed in black with his face covered, entered the apartment and shot the victim.

Further investigation identified Reyes as a possible suspect in this case and he was subsequently interviewed by investigators.  Reyes told detectives he was visiting the apartment when the victim began playing with a gun he (Reyes) had brought with him.  Reyes stated he took the gun away from the victim and, while trying to clear it from being jammed, accidentally pulled the trigger, striking the victim.

Following the interview with Reyes and further investigation, including the processing of evidence, Reyes was subsequently charged on Thursday (October 1) in the juvenile's death.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Eduardo Reyes or in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
