Investigation into Fatal Crash at 1100 East Loop South

October 12 2020 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash at 1100 East Loop South (East Interstate Highway 610 South) about 12:55 p.m. on Saturday (October 10).

The identity of the female victim, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer J. Wu reported:

The victim was driving a silver Toyota Highlander northbound at the above address when she struck the back of an 18-wheeler with attached fuel tanker.  According to the driver of the 18-wheeler, he had slowed down when a vehicle entered his lane.  The victim failed to control her speed and struck the fuel tanker.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.
