August 3, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman found at 5500 De Soto Street about 7 p.m. on August 21, 2018.

The suspect, Damarion D. Gulley (b/m, 44), is charged with murder in the 208th State District Court.  A photo of Gulley is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of Cassie Washington, 34.

HPD Homicide Division Detective C. Sharp reported:

An HPD officer working an approved extra job at the Linda Vista apartments at the above address was requested by management to conduct a welfare check on a tenant in an apartment.  The officer entered the apartment and found Ms. Washington lying on the living room floor deceased.  She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

An initial investigation determined Washington was last seen in the early morning hours of August 18 and a missing persons report was filed on August 20.

Further investigation and additional evidence identified Gulley, who was in  dating relationship with Washington, as a suspect in this case.  Gulley was taken into custody on Monday (August 2) and subsequently charged for his role in Washington's death.
