Update On Traffic Incident at 6100 Windswept

October 17, 2007 - A child struck by a hit-and-run driver in the 6100 block of Windswept about 8 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 14) has died from her injuries.

Gissela Silvestre, 23 months, of 10101 South Gessner #112, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital on Tuesday (Oct. 16).

The driver, Angel Jesus Hernandez (H/m, DOB: 01-31-83), was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid and intoxicated assault with a vehicle in the 337th State District Court.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant L.H. Lefler and Officers R. Kessler and T. Cox reported:

Hernandez was traveling west in the 6100 block of Windswept in a silver Pontiac G6 when he struck Gissela on the sidewalk and continued down the street. Hernandez then crossed into the center of the roadway in the 6300 block of Windswept and struck an oncoming purple Dodge Neon. The Pontiac then went into a parking lot at 6362 Windswept, struck two parked cars (a Chevrolet Malibu and a Toyota Corolla) and collided with a Ford truck entering the parking lot before Hernandez’ vehicle came to a stop.
