June 22, 2021 - The fatal shooting of a man at 9555 Crofton Street about 3:10 p.m. on Monday (June 21) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.  

The identity of the deceased male, 48, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

The male shooter was not injured in the incident.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detectives R. Haughton and M. Hughey reported:  

A security guard working at the above address heard a shooting occur in the street.  Upon investigating, the security guard observed a male suspect driving in a vehicle shooting at another male fleeing on foot.  The security guard attempted to intervene to stop the suspect in the vehicle, and shot the suspect multiple times.  The suspect was pronounced deceased. 

A preliminary investigation indicated the male suspect was involved in a previous drive-by shooting, which is what the security guard was initially investigating.
