October 8, 2021 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6013 Schroeder Street that occurred about 3 a.m. today.  

The victim is identified as Jason Smith, 26.  

HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Perez and J. Escobar reported: 

HPD officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found Mr. Smith suffering from a gunshot wound.  Smith was transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.   Smith's mother stated she was asleep when she heard a gunshot.  She then went toward the kitchen and and saw her son on the floor.  

A witness stated a black male, approximately five feet nine inches and in his late 20s, was seen fleeing with a gun in his hand.
