Update: Victim Identified in Fatal Shooting at 2100 Sakowitz Street

October 12, 2021 - Houston police have learned the identity of a man fatally shot at 2100 Sakowitz Street about 9:30 p.m. on August 23 and are asking for the public's assistance for information leading to an identity of a suspect.

The deceased victim is identified as Jonathan Kidd, 25.  One other victim, Luis Roy Almendarez, 41, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.   

A photo of Mr. Kidd, released at his family's request, is attached to this news release.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Brooks reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the above address and were told Messrs. Kidd and Almendarez were walking down the roadway when unknown suspects in a dark-colored truck began shooting at the men.  Kidd was struck multiple times.  Paramedics transported him to Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.  The other victim, Mr. Almendarez, refused medical treatment.

There is no known motive or suspect description in the shooting at this time.
