Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 2100 Pierce Street

October 18, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 2100 Pierce Street about 10:10 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 16).

The suspect, Timoteo Arteaga (H/m, 36), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 177th State District Court.  A booking photo of Arteaga, who remains hospitalized, is not available at this time.

The identity of the deceased male victim, 30, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer J. Crisler reported:

Arteaga was driving a black Volkswagen Tiguan southbound in the 2000 block of St. Emanuel when he ran a stop sign at the intersection with Pierce Street and was struck by a black Kia Forte traveling eastbound on Pierce Street. 

Paramedics transported the driver (victim) of the Kia to Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. 

Arteaga was detained at the scene and determined to be intoxicated.  He and a passenger in his vehicle were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Arteaga will be transferred to jail after his release from the hospital.
