Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2300 West Loop South

December 9, 2022 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2300 West Loop South (West Interstate Highway 610 South) about 2 a.m. on Thursday (Dec. 8).

The identity of the deceased male, 49, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer J. Johnson reported:

Officers were dispatched to a traffic hazard call in the southbound lanes of the freeway at the above address and observed a silver Lexus RX300 stopped in a moving lane of traffic. Two tow trucks with emergency lights activated were parked behind the vehicle.

While attempting to remove the Lexus and its driver, a black Jeep Cherokee struck one of the tow trucks, which then struck the other tow truck in front of it. After impact, officers and the tow truck drivers performed CPR on the male driver of the Jeep, but paramedics pronounced the driver deceased at the scene. No one else was injured.

Arllette Anahi Reyes, 21, the female driver of the Lexus, was detained and showed signs of intoxication. She was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #10.

The investigation is continuing.
