July 11, 2023 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 1000 Eastex Freeway (North Interstate Highway 59) about  8:30 p.m. on Thursday (July 6).

The identity of the deceased male, 73, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Officer S. Kong reported:

The deceased male was driving a Dodge Grand Caravan and traveling southbound on the Eastex Freeway as well as the driver of the Chevrolet Captiva.  The driver of the Dodge failed to control his speed and struck the Chevrolet.  Both the driver and passenger in the Dodge as well as the driver and passenger in the Chevrolet were transported to an area hospital. 

On Monday (July 10), the driver of the Caravan was pronounced deceased.

The investigation is continuing.
