June 30, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10500 South Freeway (South State Highway 288) about 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday (June 27).

The identity of the deceased male, 46, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer J. Best reported:

The male was driving a maroon Chevrolet Tahoe southbound near the above address when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered toward the center median and struck the concrete barrier. The vehicle ricocheted off the median and came to a stop on the freeway main lanes. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the male to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. Doctors pronounced him deceased on Thursday (June 29).

The investigation is continuing.
