May 1, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3601 Tidwell Road about 4:35 p.m. on Sunday (April 30).

The identity of the deceased female, 79, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. James and Officer F. Serna reported:

The female was driving a tan Honda Accord southbound on the Eastex Freeway service road and failed to control speed while attempting to make a U-turn. The Honda struck a curb and a maroon Toyota Tacoma traveling eastbound on Tidwell Road. The Honda then went airborne, flipped and struck a black Mercedes-Benz E-Class, also traveling eastbound on Tidwell Road.

Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the driver of the Honda deceased  at the scene. The drivers of the Toyota and Mercedes-Benz were not injured.

The investigation is continuing.
