May 30, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 3000 West Loop South (West Interstate Highway 610) about 1:50 a.m. on Sunday (May 29).

The identity of the deceased female victim, 27, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer D. Glass reported:

A vehicle involved in a crash was stopped on the northbound main lanes of the freeway at the above address when the driver and an occupant of another vehicle stopped to check on the welfare of the person(s) in the initial vehicle.  While multiple people were outside their vehicles on the freeway, a dark truck of unknown make or model struck the second vehicle.  The impact caused the female, standing outside the vehicle, to be knocked over the guardrail where she fell to the service road below.  Paramedics transported the female to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the truck fled the scene without stopping to render aid.

Anyone with information on the wanted driver and vehicle is urged to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
