2nd UPDATE: Suspect Arrested in October Fatal Shooting at 6303 Eastland Street

November 28, 2023 - A suspect charged and wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 6303 Eastland Street that occurred about 2:40 p.m. on October 9 is in custody.

The suspect, Javunte Jerome Bradshaw, 30, is charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon in the 487th State District Court.  A booking photo of Bradshaw is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Soldem Harris, 49.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective J. Gardner reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a convenience store parking lot at the above address and found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds.  Officers provided medical assistance until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived on scene.  The victim, later identified as Mr. Harris, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A preliminary investigation and evidence from the scene indicated Harris got into a physical altercation with the male suspect, which led to the shooting.  At that time, the suspect, described only as a heavy-set black male, fled the scene with two other males in a gray 2023 Toyota Camry.

On October 10, detectives released surveillance photos of the suspect, one of the males and the wanted vehicle.

Further investigation identified the suspect in the photo as Bradshaw.  After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Bradshaw was charged for his involvement in the incident.

On Monday (November 27), HPD Northeast Crime Suppression Team officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 7900 block of Safebuy Street.   Bradshaw was arrested without incident.  He was found in possession of a gun and was charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon.
