September 28, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 13800 Fondren Road about 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday (September 27).  

The identity of the deceased male, 53, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer S. Le reported:  
 
The deceased male was on a bicycle traveling northbound on Fondren on the sidewalk near the above address.  A black Ford F-250 pickup truck exited a private driveway at the above address and stopped at a red light at the intersection of West Orem Drive facing eastbound.  The driver of the pickup then made a right turn onto Fondren at the same time bicyclist arrived at the intersection and made a right turn onto West Orem.  The driver of the truck struck the bicyclist.   

Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the man to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The driver of the pickup truck, who remained at the scene, was determined not to be intoxicated and was questioned and released.  

The investigation is continuing.
