October 27, 2026 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in the 8300 block of Leander Street about 3:50 a.m. today (October 27).

The identity of the deceased male is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer C. Nguyen reported:

Preliminary information indicates an unknown vehicle was traveling westbound at the above addess and a pedestrian was also possibly walking in the same direction. The vehicle struck the pedestrian and left the scene without rendering aid.

The pedestrian was found in the roadway. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
