The City of Houston’s Solid Waste Management joined forces with H.I.S.D.’s When I Grow Up Career Expo to host the 5th Annual “Growing Up Recycling” Cart Decorating Contest. This contest gives students the opportunity to decorate a 96-gallon recycling cart using recycled materials and art supplies of their choosing. We have a total of five local schools that have signed up to participate and decorate their carts in a recycling or environmental theme this year. The participating schools include Hamilton Middle School, Energy Institute High School, Milby High School, Stephen F. Austin High School and Young women’s College Prep Academy.
The carts will be displayed and the winner were announced at H.I.S.D.’s “When I Grow Up” Career Fair and Expo held on Saturday, April 22, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the H.I.S.D. Headquarters located at 4400 W. 18th St, 77092. This career fair and expo is free and open to the public and is geared towards educating students about the many careers that are offered in both the public and private sectors.
