The Houston Thanksgiving Day Parade began in 1949, when Santa arrived at Union Station and rode in his sleigh to the downtown Foley’s. This 69-year-old holiday tradition showcases Houston’s arts and cultural communities while entertaining thousands of parade-goers with colorful high- flying balloons, artistic floats, marching bands, dancers, costumed characters and more!

Can I use my credit or debit card to purchase food at the parade?
We will have a variety of food trucks along the parade route. Most food trucks will take credit or debit cards however, feel free to bring cash with just in case.

I ordered my ticket online, how will I RECEIVE my ticket?
If you order tickets online, there is an option to print them out and bring them with you to the parade or GO PAPERLESS - keep your confirmation on your phone to be scanned at the reserved entrance gates.

Do I need to PRINT out my tickets?
No – you do not need to print the ticket if you have a smart phone. Our parade greeters at the entrance gates can scan your phone for entry. If you do not have a smart phone, then you will need to print the ticket and bring it with you.

What is allowed on site?
You may bring lawn chairs, blankets, and your holiday spirits!

What should I wear to parade?
Please wear weather appropriate clothing and shoes. Be sure to check the weather the day before AND the morning of the parade. It can get a little chilly on Thanksgiving Day!

Can I bring strollers, wagons, and wheelchairs?
Yes. All areas of the parade are accessible for strollers, wagons, and wheelchairs.

We have two MVP grand marshals this year! Please help us welcome Jose Altuve with the Houston Astros and James Harden with the Houston Rockets!

Where is EMS located at the parade?
EMS will be in various areas around the site or you may ask a parade staff representative with a radio for assistance with an emergency. Please see the parade route map for exact locations.


How do I get to the parade and where can I park?
There is plenty of easy parking near the parade: street level, surface lots, or underground parking. Event parking is also available downtown at the Theater District Parking Garage and at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
